The library is a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation. Although the taxpayers of the Town of Wilton provide the library with substantial funding, the library still needs to raise about 28% of its annual operating budget through fundraising.

The library fundraises in a variety of ways. We host quarterly books sales at our dedicated book sale space, an annual appeal is sent to all Wilton residents, we run occasional, in person sales of kettle corn, coffee, and greeting cards, and a full slate of event-based fundraisers is planned around the yearly calendar. Recent fundraisers include dessert nights, family dances and dinners, raffles, improv comedy nights, silent auctions, a croquet tournament, and the sale of advent book bundles. Our community’s participation in these and other events keeps our library vibrant!

Planned Giving

Help ensure the future strength of our library while you meet your own financial needs and provide for your family. Planned giving through a deferred gift to the Wilton Free Public Library Endowment Fund gives you an opportunity to meet your financial goals and minimize your tax burden. Planned giving allows you to make the most of your assets, both now and in the future.

Local Partners

We are so grateful to our local partners in fundraising! In recent years, Calzolaio Pasta Company hosted an Eat Out for the Library event, Norm’s Redemption donated a slew of overnight bottle refund to us, Wilton Blueberry Farm hosted several Pick Your Own events, and many, many local businesses have donated countless items to auctions and raffles over the years. Tyngtown Group has been extremely generous in funding the Children’s Summer Reading Program for many years. We are so appreciative to our community for their continued support!
