Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Barbara Walsh will speak Thursday, April 26, 6:30 p.m. at the Wilton Free Public Library about her new book, August Gale: A Father and Daughter’s Journey into the Storm. Following her talk, she will sign both August Gale and her children’s book, Sammy in the Sky, which is illustrated by painter Jamie Wyeth. Books will be for sale at the talk. On Wed. April 4 at 7 p.m. an informational social featuring an unusual State-Dept.-sponsored exchange program will be held at Wilton Free Public Library on Main St. in Wilton. David Olson and Paula Widmer, local coordinators for American Councils’ four exchange student programs, invite interested residents to join them for a casual presentation and sharing about getting involved at varying levels of commitment with high schoolers from more than 30 collaborating countries. The Three Amigos, students of Mr. Roger Bisaillon, RSD#9 art coordinator, are displaying their work at the Wilton Free Public Library through April 30. Raymond Clarke and Tyler Lecours, both Wilton Juniors, and Randon Kelly, a Farmington Sophomore are displaying paintings, sketches, and three-dimensional pieces. In brief … The Wilton Free Public Library is located in the foothills of western Maine, alongside Wilson Stream in downtown Wilton. The Library, which serves the communities and citizens of the Wilton, Dryden, East Wilton, and East Dixfield was incorporated in 1901 as The Wilton Free Public Library Association. Although it is significantly subsidized by the Town of Wilton, the Library remains a private, non-profit corporation. We are proud to be a Family Place Library, emphasizing services and collections for young parents and their children.
