Three new computers were delivered the first week of October as part of the Maine Public Library Information Commons Project to enhance computer and telecommunications access in Maine Libraries. Computers were installed in 107 public libraries as part of the Federal government’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).
Additionally, 11 sites in Maine were chosen to receive sophisticated teleconferencing equipment for public use. The Farmington Public Library is one of those sites. The equipment may be used for video conferences, distance education courses, employee training, among other uses.
The Wilton library received two desktop computers for public access (replacing older machines) and a new laptop for use within the library by staff and patrons. The laptop may also be used with the new digital projector for presentations.
