Reconvening the Wilton Literary Group

On a rainy Thursday night, at the Baker’s Market Café in Wilton, about fifteen people reconvened the Wilton Literary Group after the summer break.  After the meal of homemade chicken pot pie, minestrone soup, and popovers, the group discussed a variety of books and topics, including comparing the movie of The Help to the book.  For a list of books discussed, click here.

This is not the type of book club where everyone reads the same book.  Not everyone feels comfortable with the traditional book club model where club members choose which books they will read over the course of a year, then get together on a regular basis to discuss them. It means several people will need to buy, borrow, or download the titles. And what if you really don’t like this month’s selection? What if you’ve read a tremendous book and want to discuss it, or recommend it? What if you just like to talk about books and reading in general?

The Wilton Literary Group, hosted by the Wilton Free Public Library, meets the third Thursday of the month at the Baker’s Market Café on Main Street in Wilton, across from the monument.  The optional dinner is from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  The book discussion begins at 6:00 p.m.  For more information contact David Olson at the Wilton library: director@wilton-free.lib.me.us , or call 645-4831.
