The Wilton Free Public Library is joining libraries across the state in participating in ‘Snapshot Day – Libraries Connect’ on Tuesday, November 9th to show how important academic, public, school and special libraries are to the citizens of Maine. Snapshot Day is being sponsored by the Maine State Library, Maine Library Association and the Maine Association of School Libraries.
The library will compile statistics, customer comments, photographs and other data chronicling a typical library day. The results collected at the Wilton library will be added to those of other libraries across Maine to show how libraries provide invaluable services to Maine citizens.
Linda Lord, Maine State Librarian, “How many people use Maine libraries on a typical day and what services do they receive? The collective data from Snapshot Day 2009 stunned some policy makers! Our libraries are busier than ever and provide more services than ever. We’re hoping for even more libraries to participate this year, so we can demonstrate to supporters and decision makers the importance of library service in Maine.”
