2015 Spring Art Show

Art show 2The Wilton Free Public Library is currently displaying artwork for our annual Spring Art Show featuring work by three talented Mt. Blue High School art students. McKinley Goozey, a senior, Park Laflin and Emiliano Flores who are both juniors. They are all students of Roger Bisaillon. The focus of the work is on self -portraits and their spirit animals.

McKinley (pictured left) dropped by the library to talk about the art work and his experience of taking art classes at Mt. Blue. He has taken art classes all four years of his high school career. He came to class as a freshman interested in learning about working with clay but with experience his interest in other mediums developed and he now enjoys learning and developing skills in painting, drawing and other mediums that his classes explore. Both the spirit animal project and self-portraits are projects that the art students revisit and continue to work with. Seeing the projects develop over time is both inspiring and illuminating. For McKinley the process of creating art is both relaxing and helps him look at things differently.

When asked about the art program at Mt. Blue he stated that “it’s the best program I’ve been a part of” and that “B” (Mr. Bisaillon) is a really inspiring teacher. What a wonderful endorsement!

The show will be up until April 24th. Don’t miss this opportunity to see some of the beautiful work that our local students are creating!
