The Wilton Free Public Library is proud to announce a special reading by Maine Poet Laureate, Wesley McNair. McNair will be reading selections from his poetry appropriate to the season. The reading will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served and books will be available for purchase.
U.S. Poet Laureate Philip Levine has called Wesley McNair “one of the great storytellers of contemporary poetry.” The author of nine volumes of poems, he has held grants from the Guggenheim and Fulbright foundations, two Rockefeller fellowships, two grants in creative writing from the National Endowment for the Arts, and an Emmy Award. He has twice been invited to read his poetry by Library of Congress and was recently selected for a United States Artists Fellowship of $50,000 as one of “America’s finest living artists.” McNair’s latest books are Lovers of the Lost: New and Selected Poems, and The Words I Chose: A Memoir of Family and Poetry. He is the poet laureate of Maine.
