Local author reception
By David Olson, on November 28th, 2012
At 7:00, Thursday, Dec. 6, the Wilton Free Public Library will be hosting a reception for Lawrence Wilbur, whose book “Let Me Take Your Hand : A Memoir” was recently published. Mr. Wilbur was born in 1923, in Franklin County, Maine. He began working for G.H. Bass in 1953, spent 28 years hand-stitching shoes, then spent another 19 years travelling the world on behalf of G.H. Bass, demonstrating how Bass Weejuns were made. Mr. Wilbur will be available to answer questions about the book and his remarkable experiences. Refreshments will be served.

In brief … The Wilton Free Public Library is located in the foothills of western Maine, alongside Wilson Stream in downtown Wilton. The Library, which serves the communities and citizens of the Wilton, Dryden, East Wilton, and East Dixfield was incorporated in 1901 as The Wilton Free Public Library Association. Although it is significantly subsidized by the Town of Wilton, the Library remains a private, non-profit corporation. We are proud to be a Family Place Library, emphasizing services and collections for young parents and their children.
